Perfectly sized and equipped for everyday use, the Chevy Trax and Buick Encore are stylish, comfortable, and surprisingly spacious. Their ultra-maneuverable dimensions — just over 168 inches long for the Buick and just over 167 inches long for the Chevy — make either SUV an excellent choice for city drivers.
The Encore is uniquely available with a power moonroof, but you can take the exterior design of the Chevy Trax to another level with available appearance packages. Go for the Midnight Edition, which adds bold black moldings, wheels, emblems, and skid plates. Or, add the available Redline Edition on the Trax for black exterior accents plus unique red accents on the wheels and badges. The Trax is also available with three more exterior color options than the Encore, which you can learn about in the colors section on this page.
In terms of exterior design and comfort, the Trax gives you more options for the type of appointments and features you get. This is because the 2022 Trax is available in two different trim levels, while there is only one trim level for the 2022 Encore. In the Trax LS, you get the essentials — cloth upholstery, manual seats, and single-zone climate control. If you want a more upscale interior, you can choose the LT trim with deluxe cloth and leatherette upholstery, available power driver’s seat, and an available leather-wrapped steering wheel.
By comparison, the Buick Encore doesn’t provide the same level of choice — it’s standard with the leatherette with deluxe cloth seats, power driver’s seat, and single-zone climate control.

The Encore also offers forward collision alert and lane departure warning.

The 2022 Chevy Trax and Buick Encore are powered by the same 1.4L turbocharged engine with identical horsepower, torque, and fuel economy specs. You’ll find that engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive (AWD) is available while front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard.

Inside both the Trax and Encore, you’ll find a maximum cargo volume of 48.4 cubic feet. To create this much space, you’ll need to fold down the 60/40 split-folding rear seats. With the rear seats in use, the Trax provides 18.7 cubic feet of cargo space and the Encore 18.8 cubic feet.
